The ancient Greeks had a big imagination. For them religion was in everything. There were amazing gods like Zeus and Poseidon, but also anything in nature was a god. The sun was a god, the forests and animals were gods. It was the ancient Greeks that came up with a type of religion that it was incredibly life-like. For them gods were like humans, they had the same features, they looked like humans, acted like humans and had the same passions as humans.

They fell in love, got angry, happy, sad, they fought and made mistakes as humans did, but they were immortal.

Among all the gods, there were twelve major deities, known as the twelve Olympians. They were named after their dwelling place, mount Olympus, the highest mountain in all of Greece.
